Summary of facts

On February 1, 2024, Adrien B. d. M.-P. and Guennadi Guermanovitch, two French nationals working for the Swiss humanitarian organization EPER, were killed in Beryslav (Kherson Oblast) while carrying out an assessment of the town’s humanitarian needs. Their deaths were attributed to a drone attack on their convoy. Several of their Ukrainian and Swiss colleagues were injured in the attack. Russian media later claimed that the two French victims were mercenaries who had taken part in the hostilities. These allegations were firmly rejected by the French authorities, EPER and the victims’ families.

Amnesty International France recalls that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law.
